《Qingong Gui (a kind of food container)》


This food container is a copy. The original one is now in the National Museum of China. It is 23.5cm in height and 18.8cm in diameter. It is of bronze. It was the product of the Spring and Autumn Period. It was unearthed at Qingong cemetery in the Dabuzi Mountain in Lixian county.

Gui is the Chinese name of this container. It demanded special skills to achieve the combination of arts and functions. You may notice the five Chinese characters inscribed on the container. They disclose its owner, who is a king of the Qin Kingdom.  It is also of great academic value.
