《Porcelain Pillow Carved with Peonies》


This pillow is 21cm long, 13cm wide, 11cm high, weighing 1.5kg. It was unearthed in Yuquan Taoist Temple in Qinzhou District of Tianshui. The peonies on it were done with a special craftsmanship which was favored especially by the craftsmen of Dengfeng in Henan. It reflects the highest level of porcelain art in folk kilns. In ancient China, pillows were made of different materials including stone, bamboo, wood, jade, and bronze. But porcelain pillows exceeded the pillows of the other materials in number.
