《Celadon Bowl》


This bowl is 11.1cm in bore diameter, 4.4cm in bottom diameter, and 5.6cm tall. It was excavated in the Wayaopo in Qinzhou District of Tianshui city. The bowl is a product of the Yaozhou Kiln.

Yaozhou Kiln was a famous production area of celadon in north China in the Song Dynasty. It produced almost all the household items in a variety of styles. It also represents the unique flower-carving technique of the porcelain of the Song Dynasty, with its characteristic carving in a powerful and sharp style. The moulding decoration of Yaozhou Kiln is also different from that of Ding kiln. Due to its exquisite texture and elegant ornamentation, Yaozhou Kiln were required to pay tributes to the imperial court every year at that time.
