《Misty-blue Porcelain Bowl》

This bowl of the Song Dynasty is 16.9cm in bore diameter and 5.2cm in the bottom diameter. And it is 5.2cm high and weighs 243.3g. On the inner wall of the bowl there are two carved fish chasing each other in the water. The carving technique is fluent and smart, by which the fish are simply yet dynamically presented. The outer rim of the bowl is decorated with string pattern.

"Misty-blue" commonly refers to the porcelain glaze color which is between blue and white, with white in blue and blue in white, especially of the porcelain fired in Jingdezhen in the Song Dynasty. Misty-blue porcelain is usually very thin, therefore the carved pattern can be seen both from inside and outside of the bowl when exposed to light. That is why people call it Misty-blue.
