《Tombs of Song Dynasty --- A Site Relocation》


The original site of Song tombs is located in Shijiawan, Zhongliang township, Qinzhou district, Tianshui city. It was discovered at the end of 2012 and was excavated for salvage by Tianshui Museum with the approval of Gansu Provincial Bureau of Cultural Relics.

Three family brick chambers with wood-like structure were cleared out. Among them, both M1 and M2 were stolen.Their chambers were seriously damaged and no artifacts were found. M3 was well preserved. There were murals on all the walls of the tomb. The most representative of them are the picture of women opening the door and the picture of four filial piety.

In this tomb, a brown glaze porcelain bowl, a grey pottery bottle, as well as a small amount of iron nails and bones were also cleared out. In 2013, the site was relocated to Tianshui Museum for reconstruction and protection.

M3 is a typical civilian grave in Tianshui area. It is divided into two parts: the above ground building and the underground building. The ground building is an ancient architecture with a rolling roof, three rooms in width, 517cm in length and 367cm in depth. The three underground walls are the main exhibition contents, including two gables and one back wall.
